Objectives (Leerdoelen)
The objective of this course is to acquire and to apply research skills by means of developing a thorough well substantiated research proposal in the field of strategy and strategic management. This course is also offered to students of the Supply Chain Management specialisation. The aim of the course is to prepare students for their master thesis that meets scientific standards. Students write a research proposal which is discussed with fellow students and their supervisor.

Contents (Beschrijving)
The course has a collective and an individual part. The collective part consists of a few obligatory dedicated lectures. Here students are informed about the requirements that have to be met with regard to the research topic, problem statement and masterthesis. Also information will be provided about the available projects that can serve as a subject for the master thesis. Students can assign to these projects with first and second prevalence. Then the individual part starts. A students writes his/her research proposal under supervision of the assigned teacher. In a few working group sessions the progress and concepts of the proposal are presented and discussed with fellow students in order to enhance the final research proposal. The final research proposal includes problem statement (objective and research question), scientific and societal relevance, a comprehensive literature review, an outline of the research methodology and research time frame. If the final project proposal meets the criteria and is graded with a sufficient the student start with his/her masterthesis.
