Contents (Beschrijving)
Phenomenology was first conceived as a kind of 'first philosophy' (Husserl) or 'fundamental ontology' (Heidegger). The French philosopher Emmanuel Levinas however conceived of ethics as first philosophy, thus making justice prior to truth. In this course we will focus on the problem of how phenomenology as 'first philosophy' relates to axiology and ethics, departing from the controversy between Heidegger and Levinas concerning the status and meaning of ethics at the background of the philosophy of Husserl.
|
Literature (Literatuur)
Primary texts by Husserl, Heidegger, Levinas and others and secondary literature.
