Contents Observations form a very important empirical basis to our knowledge of the Universe. In this course we will overview the basics of astronomical observations: time, coordinates, telescopes, detectors and analysis techniques. The Department is equipped with a unique array of telescopes including two optical telescopes, two radio dishes, a LOFAR prototype station and astroparticle detectors. Students will make their own observations and learn how to reduce the raw data to scientifically interesting results. |
