Objectives (Doelstelling)
This course will provide students with a thorough background in the phonetic and phonological structure of speech. This will be done on the basis of articles and chapters from handbooks. Often, a problem-oriented exercise will follow the discussion so as to familiarize students with phonological representations, phonetic details or experimental techniques.The general aim is enable students to place research questions that bear on speech processing in an appropriate linguistic context.
