Objectives (Doelstelling)
Brain reading is a popular name for the decoding of neural data using multivariate methods. These methods provide an alternative to the conventional analysis of neuroimaging data and form the basis for brain-computer interfaces. The emphasis on decoding of single-trial data within single subjects allows new questions to be asked and new paradigms to be devised in neuroscience. In this course, various lecturers that work on multivariate analysis and related methods will provide a detailed understanding of this field. Part of the course provides practical knowledge on how to perform a multivariate analysis.
Contents (Inhoud / Omschrijving)

After this course, students are able to understand how multivariate analysis methods are applied in the context of brain-computer interfacing and functional magnetic resonance imaging. We will be discussing how these methods can be used to advance our understanding of neural representations. Students should be able to analyse such data using Matlab.
