Contents
The course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and understanding of the basic international legal concepts of International Criminal Law and of the developments taking place in the field of individual criminal liability. The course topics will include, inter alia, on the issues of jurisdiction, the basic elements of the core crimes (genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes), the defences excluding individual liability, immunity and amnesties, the cooperation of states, the protection of victims and witnesses. The focus will be on the law and practice of the ad hoc Tribunals on Yugoslavia and Rwanda and of the International Criminal Court.
