Teaching methods
The course will consist of two hours of seminar per week. Students must have read and prepared the compulsory reading for each week and participate on that basis. Preparation, attendance and participation are compulsory. Final result of the students will be composed out of the following elements: Attendance and participation: 10 % Presentation and paper: 30 % Examination: 60 %

Contents
This course offers an introduction to contemporary philosophy of law. Themes such as Politics, Authority, Democracy, Liberty, Justice, Feminism, Multiculturalism and Global Justie will be discussed on the basis of a (small) handbook and primary texts (by authors such as Aristotle, Machiavelli, Rawls, Rousseau, Federalists, Okin, Miller and Singer)
